Throughout Advent, parishioners brought in mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and other items for our Mitten Tree. These items were given to the Care-N-Share Food Pantry in Ransomville and to the Town of Porter Christmas Basket Program. Donations of cash and gift cards were also given to both outreach ministries.
St. John's will hold a potluck luncheon after Sunday service on November 20. We will have at least one guest speaker, who will talk about local Native American experience, culture and traditions. American Indian residential schools (also called Indian boarding schools) will also be discussed.
Pets (and their owners) are blessed each fall on the first Sunday in October by Mother Barbara. Our annual event marks the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, known for his care for nature and creation and often called the patron saint of animals.
