2027 Stewardship Campaign Looks Back to 1945
Each fall, we ask our parishioners to make their financial commitment to St. John’s for the upcoming year, and our 2027 stewardship materials were recently mailed out. This year’s program made reference to the many joys as well as the challenges the congregation has faced over many decades of our existence. Included in this year’s stewardship materials was a reproduction of the “Loyalty Sunday” publication distributed to the parish in the fall of 1945, months after World War II ended. We have included it below.
On September 28, 2028, St. John’s will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the building of the church. Erected on land donated by Ordinance Sergeant Lewis Leffman and his wife, Elizabeth, the church looks much like it did in 1878. In this space, we will begin to share some of our history leading up to our sesquicentennial.
